Jobs and careers
Summary
I have been thinking about my career prospects since school years and then I understood that successful career starts from the education in the recognized universities, for this reason I entered Moscow State University and started to implement my action plan of building a successful career. I visited career lectures held by world famous graduate employers such as PwC, KPMG, EY, McKinsey, etc. These workshops were extremely beneficial for me as then I got acquainted with the corporate culture of every company, the problems which employees have to face to every day and also the requirements for new workers. After one of such meetings and conversation with the employee from one of the companies I realized how it is essential to get Master’s degree from a foreign university to get a good job. This case had a great influence on my future decisions about my further education and further actions in finding a job.
Undoubtedly, this is extremely important to know how to present yourself in the best way and one of the best methods I have learnt from all career events is Linked profile which I registered about two years ago. Since my undergraduate studies I always update my information connected with latest professional events in my life. Moreover, LinkedIn helps me to follow the news of the companies of my interest, monitor currently available vacancies in these companies, find people who I can ask about particular aspects of the selection process of the company they work for and, the most important, expand my professional network.
As a whole, after this experience I feel myself more confident about my future career as now I know all employers’ requirements and try to keep up-to-date with recent companies’ news and open positions in various firms. I suppose, LinkedIn has increased my opportunities to find a desired job as through this professional network I can provide information about all my academic achievements, history of education, work experience and also present results of my work (publication of my article, group presentation for business competition). My LinkedIn profile also helped me to develop such graduate attributes as effective communicator, reflective learner, resourcefulness and responsibility in self-directed activities.

Learning outcome
The desired goal of Jobs and Careers section for me was to achieve the level All-star LinkedIn Profile and make an effective CV which could help me to find a job. Both of my LinkedIn profile and CV complement each other. It concerns results of my studies and work: both my profile and CV include general information about my achievements but results such as articles and presentations can be viewed only in the LinkedIn profile as this source allows to connect with Slideshare and other websites. I have completed almost all sections in my profile and achieved my initial goal. Basically, I consider LinkedIn extremely helpful as a source of personal development as while completing different sections of the profile, you can understand that some areas you should improve if now you leave them blank (for example, if I see my Publication section is blank, then I should work on it and develop myself in this direction).
Impact on University studies
I suppose my work in the direction of Jobs and careers has also helped me in my studies as now I understand clearly which job I would like to get after my education and which companies I would like to work. Development in this area facilitates to be more self-organised and manage the time which you need to devote to studies and to various career events.
Impact on emloyability
I do hope all these events will help me to find the desired job in the future. However, now I feel myself more confident when I apply for different jobs as my CV was checked by Career Services and they also gave me some general tips how to be successful in the application process.
